What causes condensation?

When warm air collides with a cold surface, such as a window or wall, the air cools rapidly and changes into water droplets on the cold surface. Higher humidity in your home produces more condensation.

Where does mould come from?

Mould spores are airborne seeds and are present everywhere. However mould will only grow with the right conditions and like any living organism mould needs water to grow. Mold will grow anyway and on almost anything. Walls, ceilings, wood products, carpet and upholstery can all harbour mould.

If you simply clean the mould away and don't do anything about the root cause its just going to keep coming back. You have to stop mould from developing by cutting off its food source, namely the water it uses to grow. To do this you need to get condensation under control and reduce the relative humidity in your home.

How can I stop condensation?

A Positive Input System (PIV) will allow a constant flow of filtered air through your home. External air is drawn in through a filtration unit and dispersed through the home. Not only will you home have a constant supply of fresh air, but you will not have to open the windows in your house to achieve this.
